Wonderful 19th Century Silver butterfly Brooch.
This wonderful ancient brooch is made out of solid silver.
Jewellery representing dragonflies, bees, butterflies, moths and even flies was popular from the mid19thC onwards,
in accordance with the general public's rising in natural history.
The most beautiful examples were made in the later part of the century.
The butterfly brooch I have for sale is an excellent example of such a wonderful ancient jewel.
A magnificent and very fine made brooch bringing back the glory of this wonderful period of jewellery making.
A wonderful item to collect, to wear at special occasions or to give as a very special present.
The brooch is market with the maker's mark, a "cloverleaf and small head" and with the silver mark "925", (92,5 % pure Silver).
